We Share

Faithful disciples respond to an increasing awareness of the abundant generosity of God by sharing according to the desires of their hearts; not by commandment or constraint…Give generously according to your true capacity. Eternal joy and peace await those who grow in the grace of generosity that flows from compassionate hearts without thought of return.  Doctrine and Covenants 163:9

After hearing President Stephen M. Veazey’s invitation to share a vision and increase World Mission Tithes support, our congregation wanted to do its part to help Community of Christ’s efforts.

We recently resolved to give an immediate donation. We encouraged our members to raise the percentage of their contributions for the rest of the year to World Mission Tithes. We will give all loose offerings (except the monthly offering to the Abolish Poverty, End Suffering mission initiative) for the next year to World Mission Tithes.

An exciting spirit of generosity filled our congregation. God has been gracious to us. We are thankful that we have the opportunity to share.

The Perth Congregation encourages every Community of Christ member and congregation to reexamine spending priorities. Let’s all do our part to turn the tide of giving and to support the mission of the church!

Your contributions to World Mission Tithes provide the ministry that shares the peace of Jesus Christ throughout the world. Thank you for responding generously.

Prayer for Peace:

Eternal Joy, may we respond to your generosity with our own. May we give out of love as you do, not out of guilt or duty. In this way our generosity can reach its true capacity and will not be constrained.

Spiritual Practice:

Find (or imagine) a globe or map of the world. Look at all the nations and find a country other than your own where you know someone. Notice the geographic distance between your homeland and theirs. Pray for this person. Sense God’s love holding you together just as the oceans hold the continents together.

Thank God for the connection you have with this person and with all of God’s people around the globe. Ask a blessing on the church as a community sharing Christ’s love, drawing all into the family of God.

Peace Covenant:

Today, giving God, I will make offerings—not for inward reward, but for outward compassion.
